When I tell people the name of the my band I am met with confusion, akin to the confusion of people who try to spell / say my last name. I am sure this is not an issue of how well I enunciate my words: case in point, I have taken a couse on voice and speach in college. This tid-bit (yes, I said "tid-bit" with a straight face) may be embarrasing to admit for some, but not for me, for I am in a rock band sirs. Anyway, after I say, "The name of this band is MiniBoone. ", people think that I said "Minibones" or "Miniboos" or my personal favorite "Miniboobs". Why would anyone name their band Miniboobs? It seems that people do not know that a MiniBooNE is an actual thing, a scientific thing; and this lack of knowledge, as lack of knowledge often does, produces much confusion. Its not like my band is named "Pencil"; if it was there would be no need for this blog posting. If I told you my bands name was "Pencil" then you would say, "oh, yes, Pencil, nice"; we would be done with the issue of proper pronunciation. So it is my goal to make pencil like MiniBoone.

So to start, "MiniBoone" is a rock and roll band from New York City. "MiniBooNE" is a scientific experiment which observes neutrino oscilations. That guy up there inside the disco ball, he's a scientist, and what exactly hes doing I don't understand and probably never will. Let me break down the basics of it though. Ok, these f'n scientists are testing to see if neutrinos have mass. How? I don't know, they are oscilating them in that big light orb thing. Ok, well at first the scientists were like, neutrinos are these particles that come from the sun that pass thru the earth and our body every day, and (now this is important) they don't have mass. But then, one of the scientists (probably the guy in the disco ball) was like, "nuh uh, these particles have mass, doggies". And that was crazy for everyone because they were then asking themselves, well how can something that has mass pass thru another thing that also has mass, like the earth? Like, how could a duck pass thru a table? It couldn't... but not for these Willy-Wonka-and-the-Chocolate-Factory-scientists.

I came across one website (where I got these images from, hope they don't mind) that was probably made by scientists and they make this shit sound hecka tight. Check it: http://www-boone.fnal.gov/. They say that, "A Neutrino mass is important because it may lead us to physics beyond the Standard Model. Mass in the range accessible to MiniBooNE will expand our understanding of how the universe has evolved." I can totally see now why the band is named this. We too strive to give a greater understanding of the universe: and who doesn't wish to break down standard models. For instance, screw burocracy! I mean, come on, that shit's crazy. But seriously, about the pictures, if someone comes across this posting and is like, "those are my pictures!" just email us and I will take them down.
